

Loree Russeau
International Judge | Dance Educator | Choreographer | Arts & Operations Leader
Loree Russeau is an internationally respected dance educator, adjudicator, choreographer, and arts leader based in Southern California, whose career spans decades of excellence in performance, education, creative direction, and arts operations. A graduate of the University of Michigan, where she studied Education, Business, Dance, and Health Education, she brings a rare blend of artistic achievement and educational leadership to her work.
With decades of experience in dance education and adjudication, Ms. Russeau has taught, choreographed, and judged throughout the United States, Europe, and Central America. Since 2023, she has served as USA Ambassador for Blandi Dance Events (Malta) and La Luna Dance Center (Italy), and continues to be invited as an International Judge and Master Teacher for distinguished festivals and training programs abroad.
As Founder and Former Artistic Director of the Academy of Dance in metropolitan Detroit, she built a nationally respected training program and, through Dance Theatre USA, has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to institutions including American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and the University of Michigan. She has also choreographed for the Miss America Organization, where her student, Kaye Lani Rae Rafko, was crowned Miss America 1988.
Ms. Russeau is deeply committed to expanding access to elite training through scholarship initiatives and international partnerships. From 2023–2025, she collaborated with Peridance Center (NYC) to support international student opportunities. Previously, as European Advocate for Steps on Broadway, she awarded more than $21,000 in scholarships to dancers abroad. Her commitment to cultural exchange also includes collaboration with the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory through the Russia & West Virginia Foundation.
In 2025, her choreography was featured at Walt Disney World, and her work was presented at the CDF Festival, Ancona, Italy.
Ms. Russeau previously served as Vice President of the Professional Dance Teachers of America, was a longtime All-Star Staff Member, Dance Caravan USA, and is a Championship Adjudicator for the World Artistic Dance Federation (WADF). She has been honored as a Master Teacher by several national organizations.
She has also contributed to arts and business operations for Intelliscape Films and Grand Avenue Studios, and collaborates on interdisciplinary projects with Project Runway designer Gordana Gehlhausen and the California Center for the Arts.
A Certified Pilates Instructor specializing in injury prevention and dancer conditioning, she remains passionate about mentorship, artistry, and helping the next generation of dancers thrive.
